From Generation To Generation / The New Haggadah By Arik Brauer

Muzej za umjetnost i obrt, Trg maršala Tita 10

April 3rd 2017 - April 16th 2017

Arik Brauer is a contemporary Austrian artist who will exhibit a new and profound view of key events of Jewish history at the Museum of Arts and Crafts, such as the spring holiday Pesah, whose beginning marks the evening of Seder. That is the time when the Jews around the world gather to retell the story of the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. The stories are read from the beautifully illustrated book Haggadah Sel Pesach, this time with new illustrations by the Austrian artist. The Haggadah contains biblical and rabbinic texts along with the instructions for the course of the evening. The family and friends who gather sing songs together and eat symbolic food. The young ones ask questions about the meaning of Seder so that the older and wiser ones can interpret and explain to them. The evening ends with a wish that reads 'Next year in Jerusalem!'. Arik Brauer created the artwork based on the idea of the Vienna entrepreneur Erwin Javor.

Hereby we would like to express our gratitude for the cooperation of the Jewish Museum from Vienna, its director Dr. Danielle Spera and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Zagreb, our long-standing partner and its director Susanne Ranetzky for organizing the second joint exhibition this year.
